Lots of exciting stuff going on at Asheville Fungi Mushroom Central this month.  First of all, we have changed our hours and we are no longer open on Sunday!  We decided to reserve Sundays as our teaching days and we will have all of our classes and workshops on that day starting in April.  We are now open Tuesday thru Saturday from 11am-6pm.  Note that we did add a Tuesday to our open schedule.
Also, we are having the First Annual St. Patties Day log innoculation party Sunday, March 17th from 1-5 pm.  Rev up ur drills and come join us for this event.  Also an excellent learning opportunity for you and the kids.    Free Beer and Door prize for best mushroom themed St Patties Day outfit.    Winners get a free innoculated log plus a $20 gift certificate.  We have lotsa logs to knock up so come early.
*Interns Needed:  We are once again looking to fill a few internship positions.  These are "one day a week for three hours" internships and last for six weeks.  We run you thru all aspects of cultivation so it is an excellent learning experience.
*Mycofiltration project:  We are currently working with the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation on a Mycofiltration Project in Mars Hill, NC.  We need volunteers to help with the installation of this project.  An excellent chance to learn about mycoremediation and mycofiltration.

It has been a long hard road but we now have fresh mushrooms for sale to the general public at Asheville Fungi's Mushroom Central.  Come on by and pick you some up for Valentines Day; COOK EM up real good for your SWEETIE!  Featured in the picture is KING OYSTER.  By far the most delectable oyster available....  COME N GIT IT!

I had a dream last  night that the lion's mane and the king oyster were animated mushroom men having a battle...One  of the strange things about working at Asheville Fungi's Mushroom Central is that I am constantly surrounded by mushrooms!  They have a peculiar way of entering into one's psyche and taking over.  It is  rare for me not to  dream about mushrooms every night.  Sometimes they become animated and this can be quite amusing.  So, here you can see both of the species.  Who will win??
